APPRECIATIVE FACILITATION Overview   Appreciative Inquiry originated in the United States in the late nineteen eighties through the efforts of Dr. David Cooperrider, Case Western Reserve University. Since then it has emerged into a powerful process for participative dialogue and change.  The process is widely used in organizations, non-profits, communities and governments. It allows large number of people to be actively engaged in the process of change.  Appreciative Inquiry is strength based and dialogic, as against various deficit based diagnostic tools. The process is energizing as it is narrative based and depends on stories of success and demonstration of strengths/values. Appreciative Inquiry 4-D cycle can be considered as a tool built on the philosophy of Appreciative Inquiry. Practiced as an outlook towards life and practical challenges, AI has the potential to transform one’s life and work.  Appreciative Inquiry is used by a number of organizations, communities and governments across the world – Our Singapore Conversations (OSC) by the Government of Singapore, Egonzehnder, Ministry of Manpower Singapore and schools are some examples.
