GLOBAL MINDSET WHAT IS GLOBAL MINDSET AND WHY IS IT ESSENTIAL FOR GROWING YOUR BUSINESS TODAY? The Financial Times defines global mindset as one that “combines an openness to and an awareness of diversity across cultures and markets with a propensity and ability to see common patterns across countries and markets.” Why is global mindset essential for growing your business? Leaders with global mindset are able to succeed in different geographic regions and markets they operate because they view markets and cultural and geographic diversity as opportunities to profit from. Some of the attributes of global mindset are intellectual capital, cosmopolitan outlook, passion for diversity, self-assurance, inter-cultural empathy, diplomacy and social capital. Leaders with global mindset are able to influence people from different social and cultural systems. With the onslaught of global organizations, collaboration and influencing skills have become crucial in achieving unprecedented results in international business. People with global mindset accept the fact that their colleagues from the other side of the globe are different in many different matters, e.g. culture, thinking style, communication style, values, systems, etc. and yet they are able to win their support in spite of those differences.
